Did you know Where is the Largest Flag in America?
The story behind the biggest American flag begins with a man named Ski Demski. In 1967, Demski bought a small plot of land in Long Beach, California, where he built a house and planted trees.
He had been interested in flags since childhood, and he began collecting flags as a hobby. By 1998, he had amassed enough flags to build a huge one.
Demski called his creation “the Super Flag,” and he spent most of his life tending to it. He took it out to events and parades, and even flew it over his home. When Demski died in 2002, he left the flag to the city of Long Beach.
In 2007, the city declared the flag officially part of the city’s history. They put up a plaque next to the flag, and it became known as the “Big Blue Giant.”
Today, the flag still stands tall, and it continues to grow larger every day. It now measures 505 feet by 225 feet and weighs approximately 3,000 pounds.
The flag is nearly 10,000 square feet and weighs around 340 pounds, featuring three feet wide stars and stripes that are five feet high.

Where is the Largest Flag in America: The History Of The American Flag
In 1775, the 13 original states of the United States adopted the Grand Union Flag as their national banner. This flag consisted of 13 red and white horizontal stripes representing the original colonies, with the union jack in the canton.
On July 4th, 1777, the second continental congress voted unanimously to adopt the stars and stripes as the nation’s official flag. However, the actual design wasn’t chosen until later that month.
In 1818, Congress authorized the production of three sets of colors for use during the Mexican War. These included the “Old Glory,” the “Union Jack,” and the “Stars & Stripes.”
During World War I, the US government produced a special set of colors called the “Rainbow Series” which was intended to help soldiers identify friendlies from enemies.
In 1931, President Herbert Hoover signed legislation creating the National Committee on Flags and Banners. They recommended several designs including the one that eventually became the modern day flag.
In 1956, the National League of Decency proposed a redesign of the flag. Their proposal included a blue field, white stars, and a blue stripe across the middle.
Standing 400 feet tall, the new ACUITY Insurance Flagpole is the tallest flagpole in North America.
